BIRMINGHAM, ALA. - Appalachian State University women’s track and field completed day one at the 2017 Sun Belt Conference Indoor Track & Field Championships on Monday night and currently has 36 points to hold the No. 2 spot heading into the final day of the championships.
Senior standout Tristin Van Ord grabbed her second consecutive 3,000-meter title Monday night dashing through the line in 9:49.69. Van Ord paced herself with the leading pack of the race at the beginning of the competition but soon found herself distancing away from the group and winning the race with a five-second cushion.
