Women's Tennis Suffers Heartbreaking Loss to Georgia Southern in SBC Quarterfinals

PEACHTREE CITY, Ga. - Appalachian State University women's tennis (15-6) suffered a 4-3 heartbreaker to Georgia Southern (13-12) in the quarterfinal round of the Sun Belt Championship at the Peachtree Tennis Center.

The Mountaineers' season ends at a stellar 15-6 mark, and in the process won their first regular-season conference championship in school history.

It was a thrilling match that came down to Courts four and five, with both contests coming down to the third set. However, GS sealed the win with each of their athletes claiming the final frames.

Kate Earnhardt won her contest in straight sets, 6-2, 6-3 to finish the season at 10-9 in singles, while Teodora Sevo gave App a 3-2 lead following her sweep on Court No.
