BOONE, N.C. — Ben Winterrowd has been appointed as Appalachian State University athletics’ interim director of communications, director of athletics Doug Gillin announced on Monday.
Winterrowd will oversee athletics communications efforts while a national search is conducted to fill Appalachian State’s vacant associate athletics director for communications position.
Winterrowd is entering his fourth year as a member of the Appalachian State athletics communications staff. He came to Appalachian in 2013 as a postgraduate intern before being promoted to assistant director in 2015. He serves as the primary media contact for the Mountaineers’ men’s basketball, volleyball and outdoor track and field programs.
