BOONE, N.C. - Appalachian State University men's tennis rising sophomore Ben Webster turned in a stellar performance at the 2018 WA Open Platinum AMT held in Perth, Australia.
Carrying over from his solid freshman campaign, Webster finished 4-1 in the tournament and advanced to the championship round as the No. 3 seed. Playing in his hometown, Webster downed his first two opponents in via straight sets, defeating Tristan Galati (6-2, 6-1) and Luka Brown (6-1, 6-0), respectively.
Going into the third round, Webster picked up the first frame, 6-1, before ninth-seeded Pedro Papangelis forced a third set, 6-3.
