NEW ORLEANS - Appalachian State University men’s tennis’ Scott Webster was awarded the Sun Belt’s Men’s Tennis Student-Athlete of the Week Award, announced by the league office on Wednesday.
Webster is the first student-athlete on the team to win a Sun Belt Conference Weekly Award since the Mountaineers joined the SBC, while the sophomore is the first student-athlete since Sebastien King on April 1, 2014 to garner a conference athlete of the week award when King garnered the honor in the SoCon.
The Australian had an impressive performance with a three-set victory over one of the top student-athletes in the conference in Rise Lanne, who went into the match with a 16-2 mark in singles going into the contest.
