BOONE, N.C. — Appalachian State University volleyball dropped a four-set defeat, 3-1 (25-22, 23-25, 23-25, 18-25), to Towson on the opening night of the Appalachian Invitational on Friday night.
The Mountaineers (2-3) were led by freshman Kara Spicer who finished with a team-high 17 kills. Amanda Krahl ran the offense and finished with 38 assists on the night.
Defensively, four Mountaineers finished with double-digit digs. Olivia Loeffler collected a team-high 19 digs, while both Krahl and Sydney Hinds had 12 digs and Emma Reilly totaled 11.
