BOONE, N.C. -- The Appalachian State volleyball team has been selected as an automatic qualifier to the National Invitational Volleyball Championship (NIVC).
The Mountaineers were one of seven teams announced as automatic qualifiers for the tournament.
The NIVC was originally played from 1989-1995. With the support of those founders, the current NIVC will feature automatic qualifiers who are the teams with the best conference finishes that were not selected for the NCAA Tournament. NIVC officials will select the remainder of the field based on-court performance throughout this season.
The remainder of the field of 32 teams will be announced on Nov.
