Volleyball Falls in Dreaded Fifth Set to Eagles

BOONE, N.C. –– Appalachian State University volleyball could not make it back-to-back wins over Georgia Southern and fell in a hard-fought five-set thriller 3-2 (25-22, 22-25, 17-25, 25-22, 11-15) on Sunday afternoon inside the Holmes Center.

The Mountaineers (4-23, 2-12 Sun Belt) were led by senior middle blocker Ashton Gregory who finished with 16 kills. Melissa McMath finished with 12.

Ashlyn Brown led the team again with 38 assists on the afternoon. Defensively, Kati Stammen tallied a team-high and career-high 21 digs, while Emma Longley finished with 15.
