NEW ORLEANS – Appalachian State University long distance runner Tristin Van Ord was tabbed the Sun Belt Conference Women’s Track Athlete of the Week, as announced by the league’s office on Wednesday.
Van Ord grabs her first honor of the 2016-17 indoor track season after winning her first race at the ETSU Track & Field Invitational on Jan. 13. The senior ran a time of 17:28.12 in the 5,000 meters to snatch first place out of 39 competitors. Her time produced in Johnson City, Tenn. sits at No. 1 on the Sun Belt standing and is the 26th-best time run by any Division I student-athlete thus far.
