CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. — With three wrestlers earning top-eight medals, short-handed Appalachian State placed 12th out of 25 teams by totaling 46 points at the two-day Southern Scuffle tournament won by Penn State.
Competing at McKenzie Arena in Chattanooga, App State senior and No. 7 seed Forrest Przybysz finished fourth among the 30 entries in the 174-pound bracket. Redshirt freshman and No. 8 seed Alan Clothier placed sixth in the 184-pound bracket, and unseeded sophomore Laken Cook was eighth in the 157-pound bracket.
The 17th-ranked Przybysz went 5-2, reaching the quarterfinal round with a 2-0 start and winning his first three matches in the consolation bracket.
