NEW ORLEANS - After an outstanding run in Appalachian State's last two tournaments, Tripp Summerlin has been tabbed the Sun Belt Conference Men's Golfer of the Week, the league announced Thursday.
A junior by way of Summerfield, North Carolina, Summerlin torched the golf course for a tournament victory at the Sept. 25-26 Patriot Intercollegiate, hosted by George Mason, before capturing a runner-up finish at the Oct. 2-3 Cleveland State Invitational in Aurora, Ohio.
"Tripp has been playing some great golf on some difficult long courses," said first-year head coach Bo Redman, who directed the Mountaineers to their first team tournament title since 2014 with a win at the Patriot Intercollegiate.
