CENTERVILLE, Va. - Led by individual tournament champion Tripp Summerlin, the App State men's golf team secured an early-season tournament victory at the Patriot Intercollegiate, which wrapped up its third and final round Tuesday afternoon.
App State finished first out of 16 teams, including host George Mason University, by carding a three-round 873 (292, 291, 290) over the two-day event. After the first round, the Mountaineers found themselves in third place and climbed into a tie for second following Monday's second round. First-year head coach Bo Redman's squad lowered its total to 290 for Tuesday's final round, finishing 9-over-par as a team and ahead of Florida Gulf Coast, Delaware, Georgetown and the rest of the field.
