Stingy Defensive Battle Leads to Tie for Mountaineers

BOONE, N.C. - Appalachian State University men's soccer (3-2-5) showcased a stingy defensive performance against High Point (3-3-2) in a 0-0 draw on Saturday evening at Ted Mackorell Soccer Complex.

The shutout for App is the second in the last four matches while the Black and Gold have blanked their counterparts in back-to-back home games in 200-plus minutes of allowing zero goals. Jake Chasteen and the Mountaineer defense posted another clean sheet, and in five home contests, Appalachian has allowed just three scores.

Appalachian's defensive performance is even more impressive coming against a sound High Point team that scored a season-high three goals in its previous outing against UNC Asheville.
