TROY, ALA. – The App State softball team recorded its first win in school history in the Sun Belt Softball Championship Thursday evening, defeating Georgia State 2-1. The Mountaineers advance to Friday and are set to take on #4 seed South Alabama for the second time. First pitch is set for 4 p.m. ET.
App State is now 27-18 on the season and Georgia State finishes 16-30. The Mountaineers face South Alabama after the Jaguars were knocked into the loser's bracket by Louisiana, falling 10-3 Thursday morning.
Sydney Holland was great in the circle for the Mountaineers, pitching the complete game win for her eighth win of the season.
