ATLANTA — The Seattle Mariners selected Jackson Steensma from App State Baseball in the ninth round of the 2025 MLB Draft on Monday, using the 272nd overall pick on the right-handed pitcher.
Steensma became the 48th draft pick from App State, including the seventh since head coach Kermit Smith arrived before the 2017 season. The Mountaineers have had at least one pitcher taken in five of the nine drafts during that time, and Seattle drafted an App State standout for the second straight year, following Austin St. Laurent's selection in 2024.
