Mountaineers face Tigers in home opener at Kidd Brewer Stadium
BOONE, N.C. – Appalachian State's football team will open its home schedule Saturday afternoon against FCS-level Savannah State at Kidd Brewer Stadium. Game time for the "Gold Out" is 3:30 p.m.
The only previous meeting between the two programs occurred in 2011, when the Mountaineers won 41-6 at home in a matchup of two FCS teams.
App State began the 2017 season with a 31-10 loss at Georgia, and Savannah State is preparing to make its 2017 debut.

Savannah State plans to switch to Division II competition for all sports starting in the fall of 2019, meaning the Tigers have two more seasons as an FCS member.
