BOONE, N.C. — With a few preseason practices and the annual Black and Gold Scrimmage under their belts, the Appalachian State University women’s soccer team will look to host their first opponents of the 2016 season in two exhibitions this week.
The Mountaineers will play former Southern Conference rival Western Carolina on Thursday, Aug. 11 at 7 p.m. before playing another former SoCon foe in Elon on Saturday, Aug. 13 at noon.
Taming the Catamounts
The Catamounts finished 8-8-3 (4-4-1 SoCon) last season, good for sixth overall in the league. WCU returns five starters from last year and will look to continue their impressive play of off sets this year – Western finished third in the SoCon in assists (28) and second for total corners (116).
