Mountaineers Fall to South Alabama in First Round of Sun Belt Championship

TROY, ALA. – The App State softball team fell to South Alabama in the opening round of the 2021 Sun Belt Championship Wednesday afternoon by a score of 11-0 in five innings. The Jaguars move to 27-17 on the year, while the Mountaineers fall to 26-18.

South Alabama struck first in the bottom of the second, hitting back-to-back singles to set up for a double by Bailey Welch to bring in the first two runs of the game. The third inning saw another Jaguar run, as Kennedy Cronan doubled to bring in Caroline Nichols who reached safely on a single.
