BOONE, N.C. - Appalachian State University field hockey (4-8, 1-3 MAC) fell, 8-2, on Wednesday night to No. 15 Wake Forest (7-5, 2-2 ACC) in a midweek, nonconference matchup at Brandon & Erica M. Adcock Field. Sophomore Ali Williams and senior Taylor Cimbalist were the two Mountaineers to score against the Demon Deacons.
Wake Forest did not allow a goal in the first half, but scored five of its own for a 5-0 lead at the half. The Deacons held App State to just two shots, none on goal.
Just over a minute into the second half, App State scored its first goal when Cimbalist found Williams sprinting towards the net for the sophomore's fourth goal of the season.
