BOONE, N.C. — Appalachian State University baseball couldn’t cash in on early opportunities to take control of the ballgame and went on to suffer a 9-3 loss to Little Rock in the opening game of a three-game Sun Belt Conference series on Friday night at Beaver Field at Jim and Bettie Smith Stadium.
Facing an early 2-0 deficit, Appalachian State (6-20, 1-9 Sun Belt) put runners on second and third base with nobody out in third and fourth innings. However, instead of potentially taking a commanding lead, the Mountaineers came away with only one run and still trailed 2-1 after four frames.
