NEW ORLEANS -- Seventh-seeded Appalachian State University men’s tennis suffered a 4-0 setback to No. 2 seed and 47th-ranked South Alabama in the first round of the Sun Belt Championship at City Park Tennis Courts in New Orleans on Friday night.
Appalachian had the tall task right out of the gate facing a tough South Alabama team that featured the Sun Belt Player of the Year (Tuki Jacobs), Newcomer of the Year (Juan Cruz Soria) and Freshman of the Year (Clement Marzol). The Mountaineers finish their season at 12-9 for their second-straight winning season and first back-to-back winning campaigns since 2011-12.
