Men's Tennis Alumni Shine at USTA National Clay Court Championships

BOONE, N.C. - Appalachian State University men's tennis alumni Philip Kloc and Bobby Lake shined at the United States Tennis Association (USTA) National Clay Court Championships held in Fort Lauderdale, Fla. at the Jimmy Evert Tennis Center.

Coming into the tournament unranked and unseeded, Kloc/Lake put forth a stellar 4-0 performance including wins over three of the top four seeds en route to claiming the national title. Kloc and Lake dealt Christopher Rosensteel and Drew Van Oderlain a three-set defeat in what was an exciting tournament finale. After falling in the first set, the Black and Gold tandem captured the second frame, 6-3, and then needed a tiebreaking 7-6 (7-4) victory to earn the trophy and the gold ball.
