The Appalachian State men's soccer team took a 1-0 loss to Elon Tuesday night, its first loss since the season opener against St. John's. With the win, Elon moves to 2-3-1. The Mountaineers fall to 4-2-0.
Elon held the advantage in the first half, maintaining a majority of the possession and outshooting the Mountaineers nine to three. The Phoenix broke through App State's defense in the 18th minute after Tuki Tayali finished the rebound off his missed penalty kick. Jacob Madden made a great save on the penalty taken by Tayali, but was unable to stop the follow up shot.
