BOONE, N.C. — Appalachian State University men’s soccer drawed with Winthrop on a penalty kick by Stephen Chapman in the 33rd minute, finishing 1-1 in double overtime on Tuesday night.
The Mountaineers (1-5-1) dominated the offensive third of the field but were just unable to get the final ball in the back of the net. The Eagles’ (3-3-1) goalkeeper had eight saves on the day and the one goal allowed.
“I was extremely pleased that we didn’t break tonight,” head coach Jason O’Keefe said. ”We bent a couple times in the last 12 minutes and a few times in the overtime, but we didn’t break and that was a good response.
