BOONE, N.C. –– Appalachian State University men’s basketball kept the momentum rolling on Monday night with a 83-78 win over first-place Georgia Southern inside the Holmes Center behind a career performance from Griffin Kinney who notched a career-high 25 points and grabbed nine rebounds in the effort.
The Mountaineers (8-16, 3-10 Sun Belt) trailed the Eagles (16-10, 9-4 Sun Belt) by as many as nine points in the first half at 28-19, but a 22-5 run from the Black and Gold stormed the Apps back into a 41-33 halftime lead.
A layup from Kinney ignited the Mountaineer run and down 30-29, Patrick Good hit one of his three 3-pointers to give App State a 32-30 lead.
