HILTON HEAD, S.C. – Appalachian State sophomore golfer Melany Chong won individual medalist honors to lead the Mountaineers to a tie for third place in the final team standings Sunday at the two-round Low Country Intercollegiate.
Chong carded a 3-over-par 147 (73-74) to win the first individual tournament title of the Canadian's collegiate career. Her back-to-back birdies down the stretch at the Moss Creek Golf Club North course clinched the victory.
"All in all, it was a nice tournament for us," head coach Heather Brown said. "It was great to be in the hunt and make a move today.
