LOUISVILLE, Ky. – App State junior infielder Makayla McClain was named to the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) All-Mid-Atlantic Region second team on Thursday. She became the fourth Mountaineer to garner the recognition, joining Kayt Houston (2022 and 2024), Allie Cashion (2012 and 2013) and Katie Boyd (2009).
McClain's All-Region honor adds to a lofty list of accolades for her this season. She received first-team All-Sun Belt honors, was named App State's first NFCA Player of the Week on May 6 and was named the Sun Belt's Player of the Week three times in 2025, becoming the first Mountaineer in program history to receive the award three times in the same season.
