BOONE, N.C. — Appalachian State University volleyball's freshman middle blocker Kara Spicer was named the Sun Belt Conference's Freshman of the Week, as announced by the league office on Monday.
Spicer was also named the Springhill Suites Mayfaire Invitational MVP for her performances over the weekend in Wilmington, N.C.
"It's not often that a freshman can put up the numbers that Kara put up over four matches," said head coach Matt Ginipro. "I thought she had a great weekend, and to get a tournament MVP and Freshman of the Week in her first time-out is pretty impressive.
