NEW ORLEANS, La. -- For the first time in his career, Appalachian State cross country runner Isaac Benz has been named Sun Belt Men's Cross Country Runner of the Week.
Benz posted a strong start to the 2019 campaign at the Covered Bridge Open on Friday. He navigated the 8K course in a PR time of 25.06.30, which shattered his previous career-best by nearly 40. Benz went on to finish second of 86 runners in the meet.
As a team, the Mountaineers placed second of nine team with 48 points, trailing only ACC foe Florida State, who finished with 28 points.
