GREENSBORO, N.C. – The App State softball team defeated UNCG 2-1 to end the Spartan Classic on Sunday afternoon. Senior Sydney Holland threw a complete game no-hitter, the first of her career and the first since head coach Shelly Hoerner arrived at App State.
The Mountaineers move to 11-7 on the season. UNCG falls to 11-6.
Holland (7-2) allowed only three runners on base the entire game, with two walks and an error. She struck out four in her seventh win of the season.
Taylor Thorp and Mary Pierce Barnes each had an RBI double to score the two runs for the Mountaineers.
