BOONE, N.C. - Appalachian State head softball coach Shelly Hoerner announced the hiring of Alex Hupp as the Mountaineers' new softball assistant coach on Thursday.
At App State, Hupp will serve as the pitching coach and will also coach outfielders. She will also have a large hand in recruiting and assist in day-to-day operations.
"I'm excited to have Alex join our softball family here at App," Hoerner said. "She brings great knowledge along with a sense of maturity which will be very beneficial to our staff. The rapport Alex has with the student-athletes she has worked with in the past is very impressive, and will aid greatly in re-establishing this program.
