BOONE, N.C. — Appalachian State Athletics and the Former Athletes Association are excited to announce the 2019 Hall of Fame class.
In alphabetical order, the 2019 inductees are Bobby Barbera (men's tennis, 1963-67), DaVon Fowlkes (football, 2000-04), Donald Sims (men's basketball, 2007-11) and Jim Whitmer (wrestling, 1963-67). Coincidentally, Barbera and Whitmer are Goldsboro, N.C., natives who roomed together at App State.
This is the 45th class in the history of the Appalachian State Athletics Hall of Fame. The group will be inducted in a ceremony on Saturday, Aug. 31, before the Mountaineers' season-opening home football game against East Tennessee State.
