BOONE, N.C. - Junior sprinter, Darlene Girardeau, will compete at the 2016 USATF Indoor Track & Field Championships after qualifying in the 60-meter dash with her performance at the Sun Belt Indoor Championships.
Girardeau finished in third at the conference meet with a personal-best time of 7.50, which is the second-fastest time in program history. She is one of 24 student-athletes in the 60-meter dash that qualified for the meet, which is set to take place on Friday and Saturday, March 11-12 in Portland, Ore. at the Oregon Convention Center.
The North Carolina Central transfer played a crucial role in Appalachian State University women's track and field bringing home the school's first ever Sun Belt title.
