BOONE, N.C. — App State Wrestling had five student-athletes named to the Southern Conference's Academic All-Conference team Wednesday.
With the Mountaineers posting the second-highest total in the league, head coach JohnMark Bentley's program was represented on the list by Matt Zovistoski, Will Formato, Paul Carson, Anthony Brito and Barrett Blakely.
To be eligible, student-athletes had to carry at least a 3.3 cumulative GPA at the conclusion of the spring semester. Because of the cancelation of the spring season, the usual participation requirement for all honorees to compete in at least one-half of their teams' competitions was modified for this year only to include projected starters and key contributors.
