MOUNT PLEASANT, MICH. - Sophomores Ali Williams and Melissa Nobile, each scored a goal to lead Appalachian State University field hockey (5-8, 2-3 MAC) to a 2-0 victory at Central Michigan (0-12, 0-3) on Saturday afternoon.
App State held the advantage in shots in the first half, five-to-two, but neither team was able to score. Mountaineer goalkeeper Rachel Gaines made one save and CMU's goalkeeper made two.
At the 42nd minute, freshman Veerle Van Heertum had a shot deflected by the Chippewa goalkeeper, but senior Taylor Cimbalist corralled the deflection.
