Errors, Walks Doom Mountaineers in Loss to ODU

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. — Appalachian State University baseball committed three errors and issued nine walks in a 12-3 loss to Old Dominion in the final game of the Caravelle Resort Tournament on Sunday at Pelicans Ballpark.

Appalachian State (0-3) and Old Dominion (3-0) both had nine hits and left seven men on base but ODU capitalized on Appalachian’s miscues to cruise to the victory.

Four of Appalachian State’s five pitchers walked at least one batter, including starter Colin Schmid, who issued five free passes in 3.1 innings of work. Despite allowing only four hits, the left-handed true freshman surrendered six runs and suffered the loss in his collegiate debut.
