NEW ORLEANS – App State goalkeeper Kerry Eagleston has been named the Sun Belt Conference Defensive Player of the Week the league announced on Monday.
Eagleston posted four saves in a 1-0 shutout victory over Georgia State on Thursday, accomplishing both individual and team milestones in the process. The shutout was the Mountaineers' eighth of the season, marking the most single-season shutouts by a team, or individual goalkeeper, in program history. It also marked the 25th shutout of Eagleston's career, eclipsing the program record for career shutouts.
The victory over the Panthers also vaulted App State to program-best third place regular-season finish in the conference standings, while totaling their most wins in a season since 2018.
