Duck named Sun Belt Defensive Player of the Week

NEW ORLEANS – Appalachian State freshman defensive back Clifton Duck has been named the Sun Belt Defensive Player of the Week following his two-interception performance in the Mountaineers’ 37-19 win over Idaho on Saturday.

Duck returned his first interception 44 yards for a touchdown and added a second pick as Idaho tried to rally in the fourth quarter. His touchdown came in a crucial spot and was the turning point in the game. With Idaho on the move in a 13-6 game early in the third, true freshman picked off Vandal’s quarterback Matt Linehan and raced 44 yards down the sideline to push the App lead to 20-6.
