BOONE, N.C. — For the second time this season, Appalachian State senior Randall Diabe has been named the Southern Conference Wrestler of the Week.
Diabe was one of three SoCon wrestlers to reach the quarterfinal round of The Southern Scuffle on Tuesday in Chattanooga, Tenn. He advanced to that round with a 3-2 win against The Citadel's Sawyer Root, a fellow NCAA qualifier in 2018, before suffering a loss against the nation's seventh-ranked wrestler at 197 pounds on Tuesday night.
Diabe started the prestigious tournament with a 14-3 major decision against North Carolina's Mark Chaid and continued his run Wednesday morning with a 9-4 decision against George Mason's Eli Spencer.
