BOONE, N.C. – Appalachian State's Randall Diabe has been named the Southern Conference wrestler of the week following his clutch victory in a come-from-behind, title-clinching win at Chattanooga.
A junior from Greensboro, Diabe began the week with a 14-3 major decision against VMI at 197 pounds. App State (8-3, 6-0) trailed 16-12 with two matches left in its 18-16 road win against Chattanooga on Sunday, and Diabe kept the Mountaineers' conference championship hopes alive with a 3-2 decision against Scottie Boykin, who was ranked No. 9 nationally by FloWrestling and No. 14 nationally by InterMat at the time of their matchup.
