SPARTANBURG, S.C. — SoCon heavyweight champion Denzel Dejournette was named Southern Conference Wrestling Athlete of the Month for February, the league office announced on Thursday.
“Denzel keeps getting better and better,” said JohnMark Bentley. “I’m excited for the opportunity in front of him at the NCAA Championship.”
Dejournette won the honor after going 4-0 in dual matches and 2-0 in SoCon matches in February. The redshirt junior started the month with a 6-0 decision win over No. 11 Jared Johnson in the Mountaineers’ road win at Chattanooga.
