LELAND, N.C. – Senior Alex Burris posted a top-five individual performance to lead the Mountaineers to a third-place finish in this week's Cape Fear National Intercollegiate.
Burris carded a three-round score of 221 (77-72-72) to finish in a tie for fifth place individually, which helped the team secure a third-place finish (+64) in the nine-team field.
Three other Mountaineers placed in the top-25 individually that lead to the teams overall score of 928 (311-308-309) after three rounds. Sophomore Candler Rice fired three straight 77's placing him in a tie for 13th, while sophomore Jack Brea (78-80-77) placed 19th and junior Noah Schneider (79-79-83) finished 25th.
