BOONE, N.C. – For openers, the Appalachian State (3-2, 1-0) defense made quite a statement in last Saturday’s win over Georgia State to start Sun Belt play. The Mountaineers held GSU to 241 yards of offense and a lone field goal in their 17-3 win to start conference play with a bit of defensive statement.
It was an effort the App would like to and repeat in their first conference road test on Wednesday night at Louisiana (2-3, 1-1). Kickoff is at 8 p.m. ET at Cajun Field. The game will be televised on ESPN2.
App State limited the Panthers offensively, holding GSU to a long drive of only 44 yards and got a big boost from special teams, thanks to a strong day from punter Bentlee Critcher, who kept Georgia State backed up with four punts inside the 20.
