BOONE, N.C. -- Senior Frank Eaves put the game out of reach on Senior Day with a pull-up three pointer late in the second half to solidify the 80-73 win over Arkansas State.
The Mountaineers (9-22, 7-13 SBC) needed to win both games this week to have a chance at the Sun Belt Conference tournament in New Orleans. After downing Little Rock (RPI 30) Thursday, Appalachian again stepped up and took down the Red Wolves (11-20, 7-13 SBC).
After shooting poorly from the free-throw line in the first half, Appalachian found its rhythm at the charity stripe and had Griffin Kinney, Jake Babic and Ronshad Shabazz knock down clutch free throws to finish out the game.
