BOONE, N.C. — Appalachian State football’s Battle for the Belt has officially begun as the team competition builds toward summer conditioning and the 2017 season.
The Battle for the Belt is Appalachian State football’s offseason intra-squad competition. Points are awarded for student-athletes’ achievements in the offseason strength and conditioning program, performance in the classroom, service to the community and all-around character.
Captains draft their teams for a total of 10-11 guys. They compete for points via performance in team competition on Tuesday mornings. Weights, sprints, conditioning, community service, being an exemplary teammate, and putting in extra training sessions are all ways to earn points.
