Baseball Alum Joins Oakland A's as Bullpen Catcher

BOONE, N.C. – Former Appalachian State University baseball and White Sox minor-league catcher Jeremy Dowdy was added to the Oakland A’s bullpen, the organization announced recently.

A former member of the Chicago White Sox organization, reaching Chicago’s triple-A affiliate, the Charlotte Knights, in 2015, Dowdy played in the minors for five teams over four years, appearing in 216 games and hitting .252 with 181 hits, 35 doubles, four triples and six home runs for 82 career RBI.

The Raleigh-native signed as a free agent with the White Sox following the 2012 Major League Baseball Draft, started the season at single-A Winston-Salem before earning the promotion to Charlotte.
