OAKMONT & VERONA, Pa. — Putting together the best back-nine or front-nine performance in the entire 312-player field this week, Timothius Tirto Tamardi closed his U.S. Amatuer appearance with fellow App State golfer Ryan Marter by shooting a 5-under 29 over his final nine holes Wednesday.
Tamardi posted the only sub-30 side out of 1,242 sets of nine holes completed in the two rounds of stroke play at the Oakmont Country Club and Longue Vue Club. He recorded six birdies over his last nine holes at Longue Vue and had a 3-under 67 thanks to seven total birdies (including six in a seven-hole stretch).
