CARY, N.C. – Against the strongest field of teams Appalachian State has faced this season, sophomore Tripp Summerlin turned in a solid performance to help the men's golf team to a 10th-place showing at the Stitch Intercollegiate at MacGregor Downs, which wrapped up Sunday afternoon.
Summerlin carded a second-round 67, matching his career-best collegiate round, that helped him to an overall tie for 23rd in the individual standings with a three-round score of even-par 216 (76-67-73).
The Mountaineers placed 10th in the team standings behind such teams as Duke, Wake Forest and NC State, which are all ranked among the top 35 in the country.
