BOONE, N.C. — Appalachian State University athletics held its first annual Letter Winners Ceremony on Thursday night in Plemmons Student Union. App State handed out 72 letter jackets to students-athletes that are members of fall and winter sports teams.
Director of Athletics Doug Gillin kicked the ceremony off with some opening remarks and then handed to the stage over to Keith Richardson, President of the Former Student-Athlete Association. Richardson talked to the students-athletes about the importance of staying involved at Appalachian after graduation.
Former student-athletes James "JK" Reaves (football) and Katie Mallow (women's basketball) also congratulated the letter winners and talked about their student-athlete experiences.
