BOONE, N.C. — Ellie Garrison scored in the fourth minute, and Kyli Switalski added insurance in the second half as App State defeated Davidson 2-0 on Thursday night in Boone.
The win marked the Mountaineers' (3-0) second straight shutout and the team has opened the season with a 3-0 record for the first time since 1999.
Switalski's goal was an olímpico — a left-footed corner kick that curled into the far net in the 63rd minute of play that left the redshirt sophomore sprinting towards her bench to embrace her teammates.
